EXPERIENCE SOUTH AFRICA

MADE FRESH. MADE IN-HOUSE. MADE THE SOUTH AFRICAN WAY.

Lion's Head is a little piece of South Africa in De Pijp. We dry our own biltong, hang our own droëwors and make our own boerewors, right here in our kitchen. Then we pour you a proper South African drink to go with it.

Homesick Saffa, curious local or just passing through Amsterdam? Come taste it for yourself.

Fridge full of South African drinks at Lion's Head Amsterdam: Castle, Black Label, Windhoek, Savanna and Sparletta Creme Soda

MADE IN-HOUSE

BILTONG

We cut premium beef into thick strips, rub it with our own spice blend and hang every piece by hand in our biltong cabinet.

Then we leave it alone. Slowly air-dried over several days until it's dark outside and tender inside, exactly the way it's done back home. Sliced fresh, 100g at a time.

Ask for a bag at the bar. It goes perfectly with a cold Castle.

DROËWORS

Droëwors starts as our own beef sausage, seasoned with roasted coriander and spices and filled into thin casings by hand.

We hang the strings on hooks in our dryer and let time do the rest, until they're dry, snappy and full of flavour. No shortcuts, no factory packets.

The ultimate match-day snack. Order a stick or two with your pint.

BOEREWORS

Our boerewors is made in our own kitchen. We mince the meat, season it with toasted coriander and our house spices, fill it by hand and roll it into the classic coil.

Then it goes straight onto the flame grill and comes to your table with chakalaka and pap, the way it is served at every braai back home.

Try the Lion's Head Boerewors, or get it on the Mixed Braai Platter.
